Sure–footed swing, sweet–toned harmony and ever–insouciant charm are embodied in the jazz vocal trio called Duchess, featuring notable New York singers Amy Cervini, Hilary Gardner and Melissa Stylianou. The group’s self–titled Anzic Records debut album channels the 1930s inspiration of the virtuosic Boswell Sisters into a wonderfully entertaining and contemporary package. “This threesome devises original arrangements of mostly vintage songs, both familiar and offbeat,” wrote Will Friedwald in The Wall Street Journal. “They understand that swinging music goes hand in hand with an audacious sense of humor.”
