Programming and operations Manager
MARTIN PORTER is the programming and operations manager for Rabbit Moon Productions, Inc. In this role he has curated talent for a number of RMP clients and venues inclusive of Blue Smoke Battery Park City and Pilsener Haus in Hoboken, NJ. Martin is also directly involved in working closely with the Jazz Standard management team for RMP. Previously Martin was a project manager for Elizabeth Edersheim, a former McKinsey & Company principle and the founder of New York Consulting Partners. During his tenure with NYCP Martin worked with such notable business leaders as Edgar Schein, Bill Donaldson, Frances Hesselbein and Roger Martin.
Martin's interest in music began at the age of 10 while studying piano. By age 14 he was managing a quartet of young musicians who played fundraisers and weddings, which gave him some early insight into the music business. After making a concerted effort to learn jazz from the elder statesmen musicians of his hometown of Cleveland, he went on to study and receive his undergraduate degree in music from the University of Toronto. Following graduation Martin moved to the artist enclave of Brooklyn, NY.
As a music history geek Martin has been writing a blog on the subject of past and present music, which was highlighted by NPR in 2011. In addition to his work with RMP, Martin continues to be active as a pianist and successfully competed in his first half-marathon this past summer. He continues to stay abreast of the latest trends in business management techniques he acquired as a consultant.
