Lionel Loueke has appeared on our stage many times, in many different musical contexts, but this week’s engagement promises to be a truly special one. On October 30, Blue Note Records released GAÏA, the remarkable rock–infused new album from acclaimed Beninese guitarist and vocalist Lionel Loueke. For this engagement, Lionel enlists the help of his longtime collaborator Massimo Biolcati and fellow Blue Note recording artist Kendrick Scott, who can be seen lending his rhythmic prowess to such great musicians as Terence Blanchard and Charles Lloyd.
