In today’s jazz landscape, one would be hard-pressed to find a more virtuosic and exhilarating saxophonist than Jaleel Shaw. For 15 years he has been working hard as a mainstay in the bands of musicians like Tom Harrell and living drum master Roy Haynes. Joined by some of the finest musicians on the scene today, Jaleel will focus not only on his fiery saxophone playing, but also his talents as a composer, for which he won two ASCAP Young Composer Awards. Although he has for years regularly played in the Mingus Big Band on Monday nights at Jazz Standard, this engagement will serve as his debut at the club as a leader.
