The great pianist Steve Kuhn was a 22–year–old Harvard graduate when he joined the John Coltrane Quartet for a few unforgettable months in 1960; Steve went on work with Stan Getz, Art Farmer, Oliver Nelson, Gary McFarland, Sheila Jordan, and Miroslav Vitous, to name a few. Kuhn expanded his credentials as a leader during a period of residency in Sweden (1967–1971) when he formed a trio that toured throughout Europe. An ECM recording artist since 1974, his many acclaimed recordings include Mostly Coltrane (2009), featuring saxophonist Joe Lovano; and I Will Wait for You: The Music of Michel Legrand. “Steve is an original stylist [and] one of the finest pianists out there today.”(NY Times)
