Pedro Giraudo Big Band

  • Jazz Standard 116 East 27th Street New York, NY, 10016 United States (map)

Shows at 7:30pm & 9:30pm:

Jazz Standard is proud to welcome back the exceptional bassist, composer and bandleader Pedro Giraudo – this time, at the helm of a dynamic 17–piece big band that (in his words) “has enabled me to further the emotional impact of my compositions and arrangements.” Since arriving in New York City in 1996, Giraudo has performed in a wide variety of creative contexts ranging in mode from tango to jazz. He’s collaborated with such notables as Pablo Ziegler and Paquito D’Rivera; and played on the Ruben Blades/Carlos Franzetti CD Tangos, which won two GRAMMY Awards. “Giraudo's writing for big band is propulsive, determined, dense, tense.” (London Jazz News) “Careening instrumental textures, dovetailing riffs, shifting terra firma and individualistic solo voices…Giraudo takes this band on an eye–opening journey through his world.” (AllAboutJazz.com)
