Alan Hampton

  • Jazz Standard 116 East 27th Street New York, NY, 10016 United States (map)

Shows at 7:30pm & 9:30pm.

Alan Hampton is a busy man. When he’s not on the road, playing bass and singing with leaders like Andrew Bird, Meshell N’Degeocello, Gretchen Parlato, and Robert Glasper, he might be in the studio, laying down tracks for Sufjan Stevens, Kendrick Scott, Esperanza Spalding, or The New Pornographers. Somehow, amidst the hustle and bustle of a sideman’s life, Hampton has found the time and energy to craft his own distinctive music – first showcased on his 2011 debut album The Moving Sidewalk. In 2014 came his sophomore CD, Origami For The Fire, featuring such eclectic originals as “Every Living Part,” “Lie In It,” and “Someone Else’s Danger.” Joining him will be Grammy-nominated bassist/vocalist and his longtime collaborator, Meshell Ndegeocello, one of the originators of the neo-soul movement.
