This very special one–nighter heralds the release of Mike Moreno’s terrific new album Lotus (World Culture Music) and features the top–shelf band he assembled for the sessions. “This is [pianist] Aaron Parks’ fourth record with me,” Moreno explains, “and it sort of continues what we started on Aaron’s Blue Note debut Invisible Cinema, which featured both myself and [drummer] Eric Harland. That was a defining record for both Aaron and I – everywhere I go, that’s the most talked–about record in my career to date. All the songs on Lotus are originals – some were composed during an artist residence I did at the Rockefeller estate, Kykuit Gardens, in Pocantico Hills, NY. It’s my fifth record as a leader, my third self–produced project, and an album of which I’m extremely proud.”
