Romero Lubambo: Setembre de Solo a Quarteto

  • Jazz Standard 116 East 27th Street New York, NY, 10016 United States (map)

Shows at 7:30pm & 9:30pm:

In 1985, Romero Lubambo came to the United States to create a new and distinctive sound, one in which his guitar playing unites the styles and rhythms of his native Brazil with a natural fluency in the American jazz tradition. From the cool and sophisticated sounds of bossa nova to fleet–fingered hard bop, Lubambo is comfortable in any musical setting – an uncommonly gifted soloist and improviser with a steady stream of unpredictably creative musical thoughts and the virtuosity to deliver them. Romero Lubambo’s newest recording, Setembro — A Brazilian Under The Jazz Influence, is a richly textured aural portrait of a musician who bridges the divide between jazz and Brazilian popular music, and between acoustic and electric jazz guitar. “May be the best practitioner of his craft in the world today…[his] facility, creativity and energy are in a class all their own.” (
