The combined gifts of Jamison Ross – composer, arranger, vocalist and drummer – present a unique offering to the world of jazz. While enrolled in the Kennedy Center’s Betty Carter Jazz Ahead residency program, Ross caught the ear of singer/songwriter Carmen Lundy; recruited to her working band, he toured the world and played some of the nation’s most historic venues. In 2012, he won the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition for drums; during the past four years, Ross has collaborated with such leading lights as Henry Butler, Christian McBride, Dr. John, Jimmy Heath, and Ramsey Lewis. In 2015, Ross released his Concord Music debut, Jamison, featuring his voice on ten of its twelve tracks; it later received a GRAMMY Award nomination for Best Vocal Jazz Album. “Ross hits on so many musical fronts. He’s one of those special drummers who know how to tastefully add a ton of color and diversity to a quiet tune…As a vocalist, Ross doesn’t simply sing a song, he feels its depth and musical possibilities and shares the joy of discovery.” – Geraldine Wyckoff, Off Beat (New Orleans LA)
