Our acclaimed “Mingus Monday” series honors the life and music of bassist and composer Charles Mingus (1922–1979), who “packed an incendiary mix of soulful music, impassioned politics, cross–genre vision and creative but occasionally self–destructive impetuosity into a three–decade career.” (The Guardian) The excitement continues tonight with two incendiary sets by the mighty Mingus Big Band, winners of a GRAMMY Award for its 2010 album Live At Jazz Standard.
